The Top 10 Best Boss Fights In WoW
This list is in no particular order, nor is it based on a particular mechanic, role play, or setting. These just happen to be my favorite fights in World of Warcraft (so far). I know I touched upon this topic a little bit before, but I feel having a “Top 10 list” will be the final cherry on top.
Alright so lets dive right in. (Name of Boss, Name of Raid, Name of Expansion) Razorgore
10.) Razorgore The Untamed, Blackwing Lair, Classic.
Stats:
Level: 63 (boss)
HP:573.1k
Type: Dragonkin
Why I love this fight:
I really enjoy the Razorgore fight mainly because of its unique mechanics. Its not every day (or every raid) that you get to mind control a Boss to do your bidding (evil snicker). I found out the hard way the very first time I fought him, that just nuking him is a very bad idea. Seeing as he explodes, killing everyone and everything in the room.
9.)Kil’jaeden, The Sunwell, Burning Crusade.
Stats:
Level: 73 (boss)
HP: 11.7M
Type: Demon
Why I love this fight:
I love fighting Kil’jaeden, mainly because its the closest (so far) we have gotten to defeating the Burning Legion. Plus it was pretty awesome to see him get sucked back into the Sunwell. Not to mention there’s a legendary bow for all you hunters out there.
8.) Flame Leviathan, Ulduar, Wrath of the Lich King.
Stats:
Level: 83 (boss)
HP: 23M – 70M
Type: Mechanical
Why I love this fight:
Another fight that has some pretty cool, and unique mechanics, everyone is in a vehicle and it reminds me a lot of Twisted Metal. Plus you can choose how hard you want the boss to be, by destroying (or not destroying) the colored beacons before the fight. Its always fun to run around in a motorcycle and “pew pew” some huge tank.
7.)Yogg-Saron, Ulduar, Wrath of the Lich King
Stats:
Level: 83 (boss)
HP: 11M – 44M
Type: Aberration (Technically an Old God)
Why I love this fight:
I love killing Old Gods, there is just something epic, and magical about ridding Azeroth of its demons. I cannot wait to fight the next one. (Hopefully N’Zoth?) The three stage fight is pretty intense; Making sure your character doesn’t go insane, and actually going into Yogg-Saron’s mind. All of it is just really awesome and chaotic, and thats how I love my fights.
6.)The Lich King, Icecrown Citadel, Wrath of the Lich King
Stats:
Level: 83 (boss)
HP: 17.4M – 61M (29.5M – 103.2M Heroic)
Type: Undead
Why I love this fight:
Its the role playing and lore that I really love in this fight. Plus seeing the Ashbringer cut Frostmourne in half like a hot knife through butter is always awesome to see. Then all of the trapped souls come out and resurrect the party? LOVE IT!!! Such a great and epic fight that is well worth all the hardships and troubles of the past eleven bosses.
5.) Lei Shen, The Throne of Thunder, Mists of Pandaria
Stats:
Level: 93 (boss)
HP: 329.3M – 990M (580.5M – 1747.6M Heroic)
Type: Humanoid
Why I love this fight:
A very hard, and challenging fight that requires everyone to be on their toes. But thats not the main reason why I love it, the main reason is: That during phase three, its pure chaos. Lighting crashing everywhere, rain and wind blowing all over the place, and Lei Shen’s lightning whip? Man, its insanity!
4.) The Spine of Deathwing, Dragon Soul, Cataclysm.
Level: 87 – 88 (Boss)
HP: 166k – 30M (290.5k – 30.6M Heroic)
Type: Elemental
Why I love this fight:
You’re on the back of a dragon, who is heading to the end of the world. How cool and epic is that? Plus he does barrel rolls (and I love me some Starfox) Fighting The Spine of Deathwing on Heroic when it was current content, was definitely some of the most intense raiding I have ever done with a Guild.
3.) Ragnaros, The Firelands, Cataclysm.
Level: 88 (boss)
HP: 50.2M – 150.7M (63M – 209.8M Heroic)
Type: Elemental
Why I love this fight:
This is mainly for the “Heroic” version of the fight. Seeing as you actually kill Ragnaros, rather than having him run away again. That is what I really enjoy about this fight, you finally get to kill Ragnaros, obviously with the help of some friends. Plus, who doesn’t like getting a bowl of Ragnar-O’s for breakfast?
2.) The Sha of Fear, The Terrace of Endless Spring., Mists of Pandaria.
Level: 93 (boss)
HP: 184.7M – 554.1M (544M – 1632.1M Heroic)
Type: Elemental
Why I love this fight:
You are essentially going up against your greatest fears, and that has been something i’ve always wanted to do. There is just something empowering and heroic about facing what you fear the most, and fighting the embodiment of those fears is quite an epic and awesome encounter for me.
1.) Illidan Stormrage, The Black Temple, Burning Crusade.
Level: 73 (boss)
HP: 4.2M
Type: Demon
Why I love this fight:
Back when I was a [Censored] to World of Warcraft, I got invited to run the Black Temple with a few friends. Nothing was more epic, more jaw dropping and more intense to me than walking up those stairs with Akama and seeing the thundering skies over the Black Temple. Seeing Illidan Stormrage, the betrayer floating high in the sky, awaiting our final fight. Freeing Outland from his tyranny has never felt so good, and so heroic since the first time.
